Why Treemendous Apples Win so Many Awards

The most important ingredient in our product is the chocolate. Most people know that Belgian Chocolate is considered to be the best in the world. This stems from the original chocolate that dominated the Paris food shows when Belgium Chocolate was introduced into the shows in the nineteen sixties. Since then the chocolate continues to dominate the chocolate market because of the superb industry that grew up around the product. However as in any industry there is now a broad range of chocolate being produced in Belgium. The particular chocolate used by us is from the same company that brought Belgium Chocolate to the Paris shows. Understand that we could use some of their chocolates that would cost us only a quarter of the cost of the formula we use. It would still be Belgium Chocolate. However we still insist on using their more expensive line. Why? Well chocolate can be made to go farther if additives are put into. One common additive is milk but many people love the creamy texture imparted by the milk. An other common additive is sugar. However one of the processes that chocolate can undergo is to squeeze out the natural oils and then reconstitute using edible oils and edible waxes. This gives the chocolate another advantage in that it can be formulated to run through chocolate processing machines. This reduces the labour costs so that the manufacture of the chocolate is reduced two ways: the chocolate is cheaper and the product can be machined. Alas the chocolate we use does not have either of those advantages to us. To you, the consumer comes the gain from our lose.

It means we have to pay more for the chocolate and we have to make them all by hand. Our labour costs are much higher than other people that work with chocolate. Our chocolate comes in big blocks that we have to break up and then slowly melt by hand. The less expensive chocolate comes in pellets ready to be machine tempered. We believe that this is the biggest reason for our success. You can taste the quality of the product.

Another important thing you will notice is that even though our chocolate is much more expensive, our apples are not overpriced. One place we save is on packaging. It is true that we could spend much more on our packaging (some producers spend up to $2 per apple) but we have chosen to use very inexpensive packaging because we want to put the value into what you eat rather than what you throw away.

Two of the most important reasons that in blind taste tests our apples always come out on top.
